New Cinematics Design + Make a Few Dollars

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

The Cinematics blog has received a redesign, following the rest of the blogs. Now that all of the blogs have their own unique designs, we’re introducing something new.

Do you have an AdSense account? Now our bloggers (apply if you like writing) can enter their publisher IDs in their blog accounts, and make 50% of the ad revenue on the posts they write. We show your ads half of the time, and ours the other half. We figured that it was a good idea to give something back to our writers.

BlogRush: Cool Idea, but….

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Ah, the BlogRush people finally gave you statistics. Let me guess, you’ve got something like 500 impressions, 1 click? BlogRush is a cool idea, though it hasn’t worked out so well. Heck, Daren Rowse, one of the top bloggers, had around 70,000 impressions and only a handful of clicks.  I’m not going to bore you to death with yet another (there have been hundreds) post about “The Great BlogRush Scam.” Instead, I’ll offer you something better.

By now, you’ve probably heard of the NTugo Network. If you’re blog is accepted, a link to your blog and RSS feed will be added to the network page (which all network memebers are required to link to), excerpts of your blog’s recent posts will be featured on the network page, and headlines on the NTugo homepage. We’re even working on a Wordpress plugin that shows the Network headlines on your blog sidebar.

The ‘Network may not give you a “rush of traffic” (which BlogRush promised, and didn’t deliver), but it can benefit your blog in numerous ways.

Ex Libris Gets a Redesign

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Ex Libris has just received a new, unique design (see it here). In addition to the new layout, the banner has been reworked a bit.

You may be wondering why all of the blogs are being redesigned. There are two reasons.

  1. We’ve been planning to give each blog a unique design from the start.
  2. Having different themes will allow us to implement an interesting new feature for the benefit of our bloggers.

How Does One Pronounce “NTugo”?

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Have you ever wondered how “NTugo” is supposed to be pronounced? Have you ever thought “how the heck did they come up with that name?” This should answer your question.

NTugo is pronounced like “en-to-go”. Basically the letter “N” plus “To Go”. Why? Well, we like to say that it means the “Net To Go”.

How did we come up with the name “NTugo”? After two weeks of brainstorming names, the letter combination “TUGO” came up in a game of Boggle. Seeing as Tugo.com was already taken, the letter “N” was added to the beginning. Seeing as the domain name was available (and it was better than all of the other name ideas), “NTugo” was chosen as the name for this site.
