Paramount Acquires Option for “The Lost Years of Merlin”

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

T.A. Barron’s epic Pentology, The Lost Years of Merlin, may become a movie in the somewhat-near future. Paramount Pictures, as T.A. Barron writes, has obtained filming rights to the series.

Mr. Barron states that “the project could not be in better hands,” and that Paramount “understand[s] the power and depth of young Merlin - and they also know how to make spectacular movies.”

There is virtually no information yet, not even an IMDB page, as Barron has only optioned-out filming rights. Paramount may or may not actually make this movie, as there’s a long road between acquiring rights and starting production.

At World’s End Released

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

At World’s End, the third movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, was released yesterday. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it yet.

In the meantime, you can view some movie clips. :)

Yahoo Movies has a new clip up about the Maelstrom Sequence, and some other clips as well. Personally, I like the Competing Captains clip.

Photoshopped Hermione on IMAX Poster

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

There’s quite a bit of a commotion going on among Harry Potter fans. There are two posters for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie (normal, and IMAX).

It turns out that the IMAX people….adjusted the photo of Emma Watson (the actress who plays Hermione) on the IMAX version of the poster. Take a look at the animation to the left (created by a LiveJournal user). Big difference, right?

Did they really think no one would notice the differences between the two photos?

Anyway, enraged Harry Potter fans are talking about it all over the web. In PotterCast Episode #87, there was an interesting discussion about it. Everyone seems to want a comment from Emma Watson. You do have to wonder…what does she think?

EDIT: Melissa Anelli, webmistress of The Leaky Cauldron (one of the two largest Harry Potter sites), has authored a huge rant about this. It’s worth reading.
