Bored? Do you have enough time for one or more 5-minute rounds of flash-based fun? Try Stick Arena. I recommend registering so you can save your scores and for other reasons. You don’t have to though. If you don’t have much time, you can have a random temporary name assigned to you (you’ll also go into a random game. NOT recommended!). You should signup, login, and pick/create a game.

In Stick Arena there are swords, sledgehammers, 3 types of guns, and baseball bats. You move around with the Arrow keys and attack by clicking the mouse. You collect the weapon power-ups to change your weapon. The easiest level is called “XGen HQ”. That’s pretty much all you need to know to get started. But if you want to win….

“Hackers”

Stay away from them. Normally the colored circle around them is black, though it varies. They find glitches in the game and exploit them. They move at insane speeds, kill you with one hit from any weapon (NOTE: Anyone can kill you with one hit from a sledgehammer), and can be unkillable. If one of them shows up in the game you’re in, you should kick them out.

Kicking Players From Your Game

If an unpleasant player shows up in the game you’re in, you can get rid of them. Hold down the Shift key and a menu opens. Click the red “x” next to the player’s name to initiate a vote-kick. The other players in the game have to vote in the same way to get rid of them. The majority has to agree to kick them out. Beware, it doesn’t always work.

Stick Arena Weapons

So, what weapons are available in Stick Arena? How do you get them? The weapons are available as power-ups, which appear at preset locations. To use a different weapon, you have to find a power-up for the one you want. Just walk into it and you’ll switch. Each weapon has a unique attack speed and damage amount. No one’s really sure about the exact amounts, but from experience we’ve figured out some guidelines. The hammer can kill with one hit, but it takes a long time to “reload”. The swords attack really fast, and they have decent damage levels. The baseball bat is a little slower than the swords, but it takes out more. The double-barreled shotgun is really slow (second only to the hammer), but it takes out a lot (still second only to the hammer). The machine gun is quick, and it takes out a decent amount. The handgun is wimpy, but it reloads quickly.

Public, Private, Random, Repeat: Choosing or Creating a Game

So, ready to start? If you’re trying to play against a friend, make sure you’re on the same server. There’s a drop-down list at the top that lets you pick. The “Compatibility Server” is for when you’re lagging way too much. You can select a game to join from the box below the server selector. Personally, I prefer creating my own match instead of joining an already existing one. To do that, click the button creatively marked “Create Game”. Type a name for the game. Now, you can either pick Random, Cycle, or Repeat for the game mode. Random picks a random level at the start of each round. Cycle, well, cycles through them all. Repeat plays the same level over and over again. You select the level with the dropdown to the left. If you check “private”, then the game won’t appear i the main list. Your friends have to enter the game name and a password (which you set) to join. Don’t set that option if you haven’t told anyone the password and game name…unless you want to play alone. Once you hit the okay button, the game will start. Grab a weapon and get ready. People will start joining soon.
