Sequel to Skybreaker Coming in 2008

Ken Oppel is currently at work on Starclimber, a sequel to the amazing book Skybreaker. The third book is the Airborn series, leads us to believe (through the title) that the characters will be heading into space possibly.

For those of you who don’t know, Airborn (and Skybreaker, the [in my opinion] better sequel]) are set in an alternate history. In France, or what would have been France if certain events had turned out a bit different, the mainstream methods of flight are airships (think Zeppelins) and Ornithopters. Skybreaker was totally amazing, with some really…different ideas.

Airborn, the first book in the series, is currently in production as a movie (to be released in 2008), the same year that Starclimber will (probably) be released.

EDIT: From KennethOppel.ca, the book will be released in September 2008 in Canada. Sadly, it won’t be released in the United States until January 2009, and the following May in the UK.

    GREAT!! Starclimber!! I hope it comes out soon! Can’t wait for the Airborn movie to come out! IT will be great! I know it. Well, I just hope that I will be the first one to get it when it comes out in my school’s library!!!

    omg thank god the second book left me feeling a bit happy i want to see kate and cruse get together so bad, i cant wait for the third one

    I liked Airborn and Skybreaker a lot and I can’t wait for Starclimber. I liked Airborn so much after I first read it that I wondered if they would ever make a movie. NOW THEY ARE!!! I can’t wait for Airborn the movie to come out. I hope that they have Skybreaker as a movie too.

    I know!!!! How exciting is this… finally a sequel to this totally enthralling series!! I’m also glad they are making a movie about airborn, though I am skeptic because book movies are often not very good… (except for L.O.T.R. and Narnia) I wrote to Mr. Oppel once, and got a reply to my amazement!
